We’re just a few days away from celebrating Labor Day here in the U.S., and I couldn’t help but think of all the laboring that goes on around the web on a daily basis.
Luckily, content writing is a labor of love!
After all, how many other things can paint you as a bonafide expert, show potential customers what makes you different from all the rest, and satisfies Google spiders AND human visitors? When you think about it, you’d be crazy NOT to love content writing!
Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
If you could just slap together a few words and watch the traffic roll in, then everyone would do it. Instead, you’ve got to focus on the “labor” part. Without hard work — and lots of it — your content is never going to be any good. It’s never going to do all of the things it should. It’s never going to boost your bottom line.
What kind of “labor” am I talking about?
Great content starts with hard-core research. After all, if you’re not sharing any important facts, your content isn’t worth the pixels it takes up!
From there, you’ve got to turn those important facts into compelling content. If you just rattle off a bunch of statistics, you’re going to wind up with a snooze-fest. So, make it your #1 goal to create content that teaches people something new, while also enticing them to gobble up every single word.
And, of course, creating compelling content starts with YOUR mindset.
If your content writing efforts AREN’T a labor of love, your readers will be able to tell. If you aren’t passionate about what you’re writing about, you can’t expect your readers to be passionate about it, either!
